David L. Swilley is a member of the Firm's Trusts, Estates & Personal Planning Service Team.  His practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, taxation and business advisory on a wide array of issues.

Representative Matters

He has implemented hundreds of estate and business succession plans for numerous high net worth clients, utilizing highly-specialized estate planning techniques such as FLPs (Family Limited Partnerships), GRATs (Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts) and various complex Trust Agreements, for the purpose of minimizing estate and income tax consequences and maximizing asset protection.

He actively assists clients in taking advantage of simple estate planning methods, whenever possible, to simplify the management of the client's affairs in the event of their death or disability.

He has worked with clients to resolve all manner of tax controversies, including relief from collection activity and direct abatement of tax liabilities and penalties.

He has assisted clients with all phases of the business life cycle, including choice of entity, formation, transaction work as well as liquidation/dissolution through stock transfers and/or the sale of assets.
